Research Syndicate publishes journal and books on various topics. Submission for publishing should contain original work not previously published nor under consideration for publication elsewhere. For journals, works presented at conferences which are only abstracted in the conference Proceedings are also acceptable. Once submitted and approved, Research Syndicate assumes that its publication has been approved by all authors.

Submission of a manuscript.
Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor, Research Syndicate. We encourage authors to send their manuscripts in electronic form in a CD/DVD or by email to editor@researchsyndicate.org with figures included as 300 DPI. jpg attachments. Once a manuscript is accepted for publication, authors will receive proofs.

Proofs and reprints:
Authors are requested to exercise care in preparation of the works/manuscripts so that there is little need to incorporate alteration at the proof reading stage. The authors would be provided with the reprints or complimentary copies of their papers/books. Reprints will be entertained against prior order in 50 and its multiples

Preparation of a work/manuscripts for journals.
Each manuscripts (complete with photographs and other relevant charts, graphs, statistics, etc...) should be typed, on one side of A4 size paper with sufficient margin on all four sides. The pages of the typescript including the title page should be numbered consecutively and placed in the following order: Title page, abstract and key words, text followed by acknowledgements, appendices, reference, figure caption and tables.

Title page:
The first page of the manuscript should contain (a) the title, concise but informative, (b) the initials and the name(s) of the authors(s), (c) full institutional affiliation of all author followed by the postal address (es). A new or a permanent address may be given as a footnote. (d) The address to which proofs may be sent. (e) A running title may also be provided. The author should also state the number of pages, tables and figures on the first page.

Abstract:
The abstract in 200 words precedes the main text and describes what is dealt within the text. It should be informative about the purpose, methodology and results of the investigation described. Appropriate key words should be provided to help in indexing.

The text:
The text to be divided into sections and subsections with sectional headings. The main division or the first-level divisions are always centered, in bold upper and lower cases and numbered consecutively beginning with the Arabic numeral 1(one). The second-level divisions or subdivisions are also numbered consecutively, starting within each first-level division (1.1, 1.2 etc.). These are also centered but are always in italics. Third-level divisions or subsections are in italics but left aligned.

Appendices:
Certain parts of the material to be presented in a paper, e.g., mathematical proofs, detailed of statistical methods or of observational data and analysis are more conveniently placed at the end of the paper in the form of one or more appendices marked by capital letters e.g., Appendix A, Appendix B. Appendices should always be placed before the reference section.

References in text:
The name and the year system also known as the Harvard System is followed. Examples are: single author (Jason 1965), two authors (Jason & Thomas 1969), three authors (Jason, Thomas & Linda 1971) more than three authors (Jason et al. 1972), multiple references (Jason 1964; Thomas & Linda 1967; Leo Jing et al. 1975). When the name of the author is part of the sentence then only the year is placed in parentheses: “Jason, Thomas &Linda (1964) and Thomas (1964) have discussed the role of:. ” If in any one year, more than one paper is published by the same author, or by the same team of authors, or by more than three authors but the same first author, then the references should be distinguished by the letter a, b, c. The order of these letters is dictated by the (alphabetical) order in which the references appear in the “reference” section, and not necessarily chronological within the year.

Examples
Same author: Jason (1964a), Jason (1962b), Jason (1963c)
Same team of authors: Thomas & Linda (1967a), Thomas & Linda (1967b)
More than three authors but with the same first author: Sreekanthan et al. (1981a) Sreekanthan et al, (1981b).

Symbols, notations and abbreviations Algebraic Symbols :
These symbols need to be differentiated from the text. Italic letters are used for scalars (Straights underlines) bold letters (wavy underlines) are used for the vectors. Letters and Symbols liable to confusion or any new character or ambiguous symbols when they first appear may be marked in the text. Letters used in formulae are automatically set in italics.

Tables and illustration.
Tables and illustration should appear on a separate page and should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerical in the order in which it is cited in the text. Marginal indicators by the authors giving the location of the first reference to each table or figure will be very useful.

Review Process.
Peer review is an important element of Research Syndicate publishing process. It may take 3-4 months before a decision is reached on a full-length manuscript. This depends on how soon we manage to find readers and how soon the readers submit their respective reports. If we agree to publish your manuscript then you will receive our written offer to publish within two months of our decision being made. If a contract was not offered at the proposal stage, then a contract will be offered at this stage. We will ask you to submit a complete revised manuscript by an agreed-upon date. It is very important that you consult our style guide when revising in order to avoid delays at all stages.

Publication Process.
After receipt of final revised manuscript, the in-house editorial assessment and production itself usually takes between 3 and 4 months depending upon the condition of your final manuscript, as well as the length, complexity and topicality of your book. An authored book generally takes less time than an edited volume, involving several contributors, which nearly always means delays at various stages of their production process. You will be given a production schedule at the outset for your information and will be kept informed of any unavoidable changes to your schedule. If there is a particular date by which your book needs to be published in order to take advantage of a significant marketing opportunity then we will make every effort to ensure that it is published by that date, provided we are informed well in advance and the deadline is realistic .

Copy-Editing
Your manuscript will be copy-edited by an experienced editor and returned to you so that you can review the edits and answer the copyeditor’s queries. Nearly all the copyediting is done electronically using word’s track changes feature. You are advised to use good British English. If your paper demands language correction, we undertake the same with experts and that will incur extra charges

Proofs.
At the next stage you will receive page proofs and will be asked to check and correct them within a short period. All setting errors are corrected free of charge. Amendments at proof stage, once the script has been typeset, are expensive however, and we would urge you to keep proof corrections to a minimum. Excessive changes at this stage will be charged to the author, as stipulated in our contract.

Index
Unless other arrangements have been agreed you will have to produce an index, which should be considered just as much an integral part of the book as other matters, for instance the bibliography. We strongly advise and editors to prepare the index themselves. In case the process is undertaken by our experts, separate charges will be made.

Permissions.
It is your responsibility to clear permission to reproduce all copyright material and prepare the obligatory forms of acknowledgement in the text. Research Syndicate will not be responsible for any Copy Rights formalities which would be the exclusive duty of the respective authors

Cover
You will be consulted about the design of the cover; in fact, we will invite you to assist us with the sourcing to suitable cover images, provided you have cleared any copyright issues, but should stress that the ultimate decision as to what will be most suitable design lies with us. An important element of the cover is the copy on the back cover, which serves as important promotional copy for all our other marketing tools. It normally consists of the book description and pre-publication endorsements and extracts from review in the case of later or paperback editions.

Marketing and Sales
Once your manuscript is handed over to production, you will receive an Author’s Promotion Form, in which you will be asked to assist us with marketing by suggesting suitable journals that may wish to review the book or in which we might place space adverts, teachers who may want it for classroom use and conferences/societies whose delegates/members may be interested in seeing details of the book.
